OpenFetch has no accounts and sets no cookies. Using the tool sends nothing about you to us. We hold what you choose to send through the Pro waitlist, feedback and problem report forms, short error notes from the online app that never include your site, and page visit counts that identify no one.

What stays in your browser

Your settings, saved sites, favourite layers and last site are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device. They never leave it. Clearing your browser data removes them. The sites you look up and the files you download are never sent to us.

What we store, only if you send it

We do not store IP addresses, passwords or payment details with these answers, and we never sell or share them. They are kept in a Cloudflare D1 database placed in Cloudflare's Oceania region, readable only by OpenFetch. Waitlist entries are deleted when Pro launches or after two years at most, unless you sign up for Pro; feedback after two years.

To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, send a message through the feedback form with the same email address and we will do it within 30 days.

Error notes from the online app

When something fails in the online app (a dataset or server does not answer, the terrain cannot be built, a file cannot be made, the page hits a bug), it sends us a short note so we can fix it. A note holds only: what kind of failure it was, which dataset and which server, the region (for example Victoria), the error message with web address details and long numbers removed, where in our code it broke, your browser and system family (for example "Chrome 141, Windows") and the date. It never holds your site box, coordinates, addresses, lot numbers, searches, files or IP address. A council dataset's name does show which council area the failed data came from.

You can turn these notes off in Settings, General, "Send error reports". The downloadable copy of the tool never sends them. Notes are deleted after 90 days; a summary of each problem with no details about you is kept as a record of what was fixed.

Report a problem (in the app): your words, your email only if you give it, and your site box only if you tick "include my site box". Deleted after 90 days, like the error notes.

Visit counts

The website and the online app use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits, countries, browsers and which links brought people here. It uses no cookies, does not follow you across sites and does not identify you, so there is nothing to accept. The downloadable copy of the tool has no visit counter at all.

Who your browser talks to

OpenFetch runs entirely in your browser, which asks these services directly for what you request:

Each of these services has its own privacy policy and, like any website, sees your IP address when your browser asks it for something.

This website

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests to deliver the pages and may keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security. We add no advertising or cross-site tracking.

Changes

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles. If accounts or payments are added later, this page will say what is collected and why before anything changes.
